Hello football fans, my topic today is: Is the Premier League stuck in the dark ages? with the rise of the 4-2-3-1 formation across many football leagues and international teams and because so many sides during the world cup playing 4-4-2 did poorly and had problems from the system England, the US and Switzerland (particularly England who were torn apart)has the Premier League been left behind and can it be classed as the best football league anymore? and with more teams around the world and international teams learning new tactics and formations, how serious is the English national team really in and the league?

4-4-2 v 4-3-3: Nice little starter
Is the EPL in the Dark Ages? If anything, the EPL has emerged from the Dark Ages. In terms of overall quality, I would rate the EPL higher than any other world league. Most of the top EPL sides play a version of 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. Manchester United and Tottenham often play a 4-4-2 cum 4-4-1-1 shape, but that splitting of the strikers is crucial.
As per new tactics and formations, that is not as much of the case. If anything, formations have become more hegemonic. The question is how to best play the players in the formation.
Oddly enough, England were thrashed on the counter in the World Cup and would play something similar to 4-2-3-1 if Rooney drops deep. The Americans do not have anyone who can create or score, which translates to few goals.
