They did, but I think one valid point to come out of his statement is that Spurs won't beat the Top 4 teams with any consistency, and that will hold them back from getting breaking their stranglehold on the CL spots.

Yes,they beat Liverpool. But that is not valid, just because Liverpool was in vey bad form. Even now Liverpool didn't play quite good. Even in that match Tottenham didn't perform such as optimistic display, which will convise us that they will close the gap to the top 4.
Like DAF said - they will never beat top4 team consistenly,at least not this season.

I agree with both of you on the consistency front, most certainly.

It's not even just about beating the top 4 consistently, it's about consistently winning against all teams. United didn't do very well against the other 3 last season, but they still won the league because they were more consistent through the course of the season. Spuds started well enough and the United loss might just be a blip on the radar, who knows. They need to carry on where they left off before the Man Utd game.

Another match/performance which is proof Tottenham can't break in the "top 4 " spots.
And yes - there should be a penalty awarded for the challenge of Carvalho against Robbie Keane. But that doesn't change the overall display from Tottenham, which played good match, but again they lack "psychological hardness" to resist.

I think the Manchester United v Manchester City game showed the same thing, actually. Citeh fans are deluded if they think they were better than United today. All 7 goals came from woeful defending. If Ferdinand and Foster hadn't defended like 12 year olds the result would have looked far better for United.

Didn't see the Spurs game, but most of the pundits seemed to suggest a major gulf in class between Chelsea and Tottenham. Having said that, Spurs are notoriously crap against Chelsea. The real test will come in 10-15 games time - if Spurs and City can pick up maximum points from the "smaller" teams, they may be able to capitalise if one of the major sides stuffs up.

@ Cagiva: really hanging on that "unbreakable top 4" theory, but as Millie said the small team games many times decide a lot and T'ham poor form and absence of playmaker came along with fixtures out of hell.
But I think they will rise in the coming weeks
As for the AIG vs AbuDaby which I have seen the first half City weren't that bad on the contrary if Tevez scored at the end of first half who knows how would the game have ended.

Watch the second half, dblooder. City were nowhere near.

Plus, you have to wonder if City would have done anything had it stayed 1-0 and United had therefore been able to control the game better.

I think that City/Hughes are lacking some balls(not the ones you play with on the pitch), the game against Arsenal, home at 1 all they were ran into their own box and if van Persie scored they would have definetlly lost the game but considering everything that has happened with the club this season I would even dare to say that they are doing great.

What you've missed is Arsenal and Man City, just 1 and 2 points back with 1 and 2 games in hand respectively ;)

It is good for Premiership to have Tottengam,Villa,City and may be Everton to push forward in the table.
Like Benitez said this season the champion could win the title with around 6-7 defeats and also such as draws.
Liverpool have 4 losts for now
