FM-Britian has issued a press release about the start of an official Liverpool FC thread...

The official reason for the inclusion: it will piss off Ben OBagels. That is all.

Let's get this started then...

Alonso to Juventus for around 20m... good sale?

Are they going to put in a higher bid to Villa for Gareth Barry? Is he the right player for Anfield?

Why does it seem like Benitez overvalues Peter Crouch yet rarely ever gives him a run out?

and of course - will 08/09 be the season they finally win the league title?

Has hell frozen over? Thought not

If Benitez stops the unnecessary player rotation then there's a chance. If not, it'll be another tussle with Everton for 4th.

Is that pounds or dollars, if its pounds then thats seems a bit overpriced to me maybe around 14-15mil. But if they do sell him for 20mil it would a decent bit of business for Rafa

Do you lot need another CM even if Xabi leaves you'll have Lucas, Javier and Gerrard

He probably doesn't want to lose him to another club becuase he knows what a danger he can be. And he probally doesn't play him becuase he'd rather play torres with someone to have that little and large combination rather than play torres and crouch together

Some chance

Isn't Crouch huge?

I think the whole "rotation policy" thing was just an excuse though because for the first half of the season I seriously doubt if Benitez knew what his best lineup was at all.

It's amazing though with all his transfers that he still had to play Carragher some games at right back and ended up using Kuyt as a full length winger.

In the beginning of the season I thought his best lineup/formation would be a 4-2-3-1 featuring both Alonso & Mascherano in the midfield with Gerrard playing a supporting AMC role with Torres up top. He had this affinity early to play Sissoko & Pennant too much... at least he got rid of one of them. Add this to his fascination in starting Kewell even though he could barely last 65 mins. It was a entertaining though to guess his lineups each week though!

This is, however, a man who will play Ryan Babbel on the LEFT wing despite the fact the man would seemingly prefer to scratch his own eyes out than actually use his left foot.

It's good to see when he cuts inside, loses a couple of defenders and smashes it into the right corner.

Happened at least once, I think.

Babel & Kuyt aren't really wingers, we all know that.

In fairness to Rafa, who else could he have played on the left. Kewell proved hes a waste of space, and money. And Babel isn't that bad as left winger either, I mean Messi plays on the right but has no right foot.

With the whole Barry saga I feel 15m is a good price considering he is 27 now. O'Neill suggesting he is worth 20m just because he captained Engalnd for 45mins against T&T is riduculous. Capello even said he wanted to test all of the players who captain their clubs.

Well, personally out the top 4 I always start the season wanting Liverpool to do well. Largely because they've got no excuse for not being capable of building a title winning side. They should have won the league more recently than 18 years ago. I'd like to see them break that duck.

Still, I really hope their attempts to buy Barry fall flat on their arse. He should stay at Villa. They're a big club, with ambitions of European football and the only way they'll ever have any chance of challenging the top 4 is to keep their best players.

I'm surprised they're going to get 5m for Riise from Roma... albeit people have ragged on him for that own goal, I actually think he's quite underrated. I guess most just expected the same guy that came on first year and blew it up.

Now do they really expect to get around 15m for Crouch? I think with the right training, a Torres/Crouch combo up top can be very effective and take the load off Gerrard & Kuyt from having to be everywhere on the pitch on attack.

when will liverpool scout a player instead of buying players of the moment then watch them fail?

liverpool will not get anywhere near 15m for crouch. they want to sell him therefore the buying clubs can force their hand....benitez crying that milner is only worth 5m as he has no european experience....he has more experience at international/european/top flight football than pennant whom he paid 9m for!! ooh sorry, that was liverpool buying a man of the moment again wasnt it!

the same with alonso. theyll get 10m max. especially from an italian club.

i think liverpool, due to the chairmen not having a clue and always arguing will be in turmoil. i think its funny how the press never mention them not being from the area (also about how one of them has always ran his companies into the ground!)

I actually agree (with THotW? it's a shock!) At least they're willing to let the football guys be in charge of the football operations, even if Benitez sometimes bring in overrated players for too much money.

Tom Hicks is know in the USA very well from his ownership of the Texas Rangers. While people criticized his decision of giving Alex Rodriguez a $252m ten-year deal, it was just a scapegoat to his even WORSE player management. That was the awfully & absurdly bloated contracts of Chan Ho Park & Kevin Millwood who maybe combined for 15 wins a year and a 5+ ERA. Not considered to be the worst owner in sports here, but he's up there.

i refer to the company he ran in tyne and wear. he ran a successful company into the ground. leaving thousands out of work...then refused to give them pay off or redundancy pay they earned. rather disgusting actually. it is this money he then invested into liverpool. funny how he was too scared to come to Newcastle for any of the liverpool games. scared for his life i presume

tom hicks = f**ked up ignorant c**t who should be taken to court, charged and then raped in the shower

ironic that stolen money went to liverpool....hmm....

Rumor has it Liverpool are very interested in Villa, David Villa that is. Though some say it's just a smokescreen for the Millner acquisition. Pretty damn big smokescreen if you ask me and frankly a bit of an insult to Villa.

Newcastle won't be interested in lennon at all. you know how you can tell? it started in the sun!

david villa has a choice of clubs if he leaves why would he want to join the mourners XI?

they will only get milner if they bid silly money too. which theyve shown in the past they like doing - pennant, crouch, cisse, morientes......

Morientes was brought with high hopes. sadly, he didn't live up to expectations.

I think that Alonso should be sold to Juve.

I wouldn't want to go see David Villa in a Liverpool jersey, he deserves better imo.

I also wonder why Rafa doesn't field Benayoun. hes a pretty good player.. he's scored a couple of hattricks albeit, inferior teams compared to Lpool, but he still makes good contributions! come on. he should get more playing time.

I'd like someone to explain to me something about Liverpool. I've been reading up about the club plus I've visited RAWK on several occasions. I'm not a fan by any means but there's just something I'd like to know. Seems that the club has a certain aura about it and I don't mean it is necessarily a good aura or at least not what one would perceive a big club to have. It is considered to be big yet it's not, at least not in a way that other big clubs are around Europe. Some people say that some of their current players deserve better than being at LFC. The club has much history but from a neutral point of view doesn't seem as relevant right now. Is the club considered to be a sort of a "has-been"? They've won a CL in the last 3 years, yet that also seems irrelevant. I really can't put my finger on it but it's just an observation from a neutral point of view. I neither like nor dislike them. Is the club in danger of becoming something like Tottenham?
