I'll just want to ask u, what is the differential between FCd = Deep Lying Forward and FCa = Advanced Forward?

Is it the FCd is a targetman or not really?

FCd usually has a lower mentality and forward runs set to rarely, thus turning him into a link player between midfield and attack. He will either be very flair based, creative and good at dribbling, or a tall, strong target man type. If the latter, you should look to supply balls to head (good in air) or feet (strong, good first touch). If the former a more varied approach is required and he is usually plays better when not assigned the TM role.

The FCa has higher mentality with forward runs set to mixed or often, and is usually quicker, with good composure and shooting so he can play on the shoulder of the last defender and get on the end of chances. He can also be a TM with supply balls being set to Run onto Ball.

When you chose a different tactic/formation for the champions league games does this influence your performance in the league with the normal tactic?

For example: I play a 4-2-2-2 in the league because I'm far superior to other teams but in the Champions League I want a 4-5-1/4-3-3 kind of system to defend a little more.

Will this change in the Champions League matches affect my form in the league because of the player getting confused how to play?

If the logic is backwards compatible, yes. However, FM06 tactics that were less sophisticated should fail in 08. In general, tactics are getting closer to reality. The Rule of Two, so successful in 06, I now regard as an engine flaw, as it allowed you to attack and defend too easily within one system.

Hey, I have had a look through the tactical bible and the FAQ threads and cannot find an answer to my tactical dilemma! I am playing through the lower leagues and am conceding a lot of goals in the same way.
The strikers are getting the ball played into their feet and able to play around with ball around the box. They tend to score from these positions more often than not. Should I put closing down higher on the slider?

Equally I have two reasonably quick stikers (around about 15 pace and acceleration) but when through balls get played through they do not take the ball on themselves, they tend to slow down. I have put run with ball on high and have my midfielders playing through balls often, but don't tend to score in the way they should be for their attributes. Overall this is leaving me mid table and unable to progress too much.

Can someone advise on ways to correct these problems.

I would imagine your MCs aren't closing down enough, which allows the TBs to be played too easily.

Excellent, thank you. That seems to be working much more effectively. I have another question regarding during match tactics. I have read quite a few articles and posts that talk about responding to how the AI changes tactics and that ideally your possession and pass completion percentages are >50%.
I have been finding it difficult to know which of the sliders to change when things are slightly off (say possession of 49-49%). I remember reading somewhere that changing forward runs makes a difference to this, but am not so sure of the effect when I change these.
Are there some specific things that should be looked for on the 2D display and changed during the match? If so what tends to be most effective?

If possession is so close and you are away I wouldn't worry about it. If, however, you are at home and not dominating in a macth you feel you should be, then a tough half-time team talk usually does the trick over and above changing anything tactically.

How much does training effect youth growth? I wanted a strong youth system for my club, with emphasis on technical and good-on-the-ball players. What kind of training schedule should I set for my youth players. (with a youth contract)

MCs
FCs (s is only plural?)

One last thing what is the difference between DMC and MCd

DMC=Position in formation. Its a position in your formation, , ,In the DMC position you can for example use a deep lying playmaker like Pirlo and give him the playmaker directives or use a Gattuso to be the hard working guy that is hard to get pass. (Besides that its also a playertype, like pirlo, roy keane, hamman, Viera etc etc .)

MCd:Tactical Directives. A player positioned as a MC in the formation that has been given special tactical directives with more defensive duties then your next MC.or MCa.

So, in that example :

Quote

The Attacking Trio

Setting forward runs for the front three is vital in terms of getting the tactic to function but is more of an art than a science. The standard starting setting would be:

MCa: Often
FCd: Rarely
FCa: Mixed

How we have to consider the FCd? I don't understand if he is the striker in the behind position or if he is the Target Man (who normally is behind the attacking line).....
Therefore I ask myself the same about the FCa....

Thanks

That depends on what kind of taget man you are using. There is a very good article about target men in the tacticle bible(from 07) and i suggest that you read it as i think you might find it helpfull
But normally, if using 2 FCs the FCd is the target man, but if using a single FC yuo can give hime the tactical directives to act like a FCa or a FCd depending on your choice of style fo play(and target man supply)

Hope it helps

i'm guessing this a stupid question..if you're say arsenal..and you set your teams creative freedom to low..will they still be playing one-twos etc, or will it just make sure they oblige with the other team instructions?
