FM Fanboys: Quality… with a twist!

Headlining this week’s community roundup is the launch of yet another new fan site which is guaranteed to turn heads. In only three weeks since opening its doors, FM Fanboys has shown that innovative and irreverent content can help the Football Manager addicts of the web while entertaining them at the same time. No boring player profiles or tactic sets here, guys! You’re just going to get well-written strategic advice done so in a way that speaks your language.

The brainchild of ‘Wonderkid’ (or Game or Julius or one of his many monikers) brings to FM Fanboys his unique sense of humor and it definitely shows through much of the editorial content. Whether it be his general ideology that launched the fan site, his farcically titled guide Tactical Triangles & Fireworks or his quirky talk show-style formatted community interviews - there always seems to be something up his sleeve that will surprise you!

FM Fanboys has also recently “inked” a deal with Sports Interactive in publishing the game’s strategic help manual in an easy-to-read format online. Especially helpful for those who don’t enjoy trawling through pages of text, this syndicated guide is has been broken down into four parts and includes relevant screenshots for even more effortless understanding of the game’s features. Of course, no fan site would be complete without a discussion forum… and FM Fanboys doesn’t disappoint in that end - but has a major twist! Going along with the “anti” method of operation, their forum is an exclusive invite-only affair. Promoting the best discussion possible means that only quality posters will be allowed membership - if you have nothing interesting to say, they don’t say anything at all! Whether or not this is the right approach remains to be seen, but I can definitely feel the mantra when perusing their threads - it’s all well thought-out conversations and you never have to scroll through pages of drivel to find what you need!
