On the inaugural edition of the “all new” Get Sacked podcast, we introduce the show’s partnership with FM-Britain - the #1 destination for detailed tactical discussion of the Football Manager series.
With a new home comes a new co-host in the virtual studio making the show a truly multi-national endeavor. Accompanying Jordan every week will be resident FM-B tactical moderator Millie in the hopes of providing a pure English football mentality to an arrogant American “soccer” perspective. A yank and a wank discuss all things Football Manager!
This week’s guest is none other than Richard Claydon - known to most as wwfan across the FM community. An administrator on FM-Britain, he is a contibuting author of the FM Tactics Bible and Tactical Theorems & Frameworks.
Our topic of discussion this episode will deal with aspects of the artificial intelligence integrated in FM2008. A constant source of frustration around the community in the recent release is the apparent inability to perform consistently against the computer counterpart. Switching from tactic to tactic, giving positive team talks and studying match statistics, some users have grown to become conspiracy theorists in the thought there is a “hidden” code that is causing sound play to acheive nothing but skewed results.
With the widespread displeasure in FM 2008’s match engine resulting in three seperate patch releases, it is no wonder that many of the FM faithful have questioned the integrity of the gameplay. But does that mean the AI have a hidden advantage that cannot be combatted and in fact “cheats” to get the results it needs to secure a realistic simulation?
