Didn't Utd pay 18m for Carrick?  So in effect they'd be paying 30m for Modric.  I can't see it actually happening like that

I very much doubt that'll happen. Not knocking Modric, but the fee is too high and I don't think Ferguson would sell Carrick. Hargreaves has only started proper training recently and who knows how long he'll last before he picks up another knock. Apart from him we only have Fletcher as a DM.

Come on man. The best targetman in the world who can holdup ball, dribble, has an awesome heading and finishing.
What more do you want from a player in that position.

The same applies for Drogba,Torres and may be Villa ( apart from his heading ability ) ,Eto'o as well.
Zlatan is very good player, but he doesn't possess something very different from the other world-class strikers.
I mean pure football abillities,not personal/mental.

Portsmouth have reiterated their desire to keep hold of keeper David James, who is a reported target for Manchester United and Tottenham.

Indeed. Never performs in the "big" games. Great for a league campaign for the amount of goals he scores. But he's NEVER scored in the knockout stages of the Chapions League. Says it all.

I doubt many have tbf

I agree that he's a very talented player but he doesn't do it when it matters - big club games and international tournaments.

that boy just need the right club and the right motivation to be one of the best striker in the football history, and maybe--just maybe--Barca IS the right club and Pep Guardiola IS the right man to motivate him and handle his big fat ego. Just like the time when Stoitchkov was tamed and became world legend in Barca's jersey.

Ok. Just heard another one concerning  Barca and Citizens.
Puyol, Abidal, Toure and Henry. All of them for Robinho.
Puyol seems to me a why, but since he can not arrange a new contract and has a lot of age on his back but is still a fantastic defender, why not.
City's first request was 35 mil  but if offered this deal I can not see them refusing.

Chelsea are ready to embark on a £60m spending spree in January if Fifa suspends the transfer ban imposed on them, with Inter Milan's Patrick Vieira, Benfica winger Angel di Maria, Valencia's David Villa and Aston Villa's Emile Heskey all being considered.

I hope they pay over the odds for Heskey!

Roma's Daniele de Rossi, Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero and Manchester City talisman Robinho could also be on Chelsea's shopping list in January with the Blues losing key men to the African Cup of Nations.

I hear rumors of Pjanic to Chelsea for 28m which seems pretty hefty to me (18m is more like it) but the kid looks set to become one of the best wingers in world football. I wonder if FIFA will block the move if it happens?

Also Babel to leave Liverpool in January on loan won't go away.

Heskey to <any team> is also doing the rounds every month.

Think he is of the wagon now, or on.
Anyway ended up as top goal scorer this season in Brazil and brought Flamengo first league title after 17 or 19 years.
When he was playing for Parma was one of my favorite forwards.
