Why Team Talks Render The Best Tactics Useless

The article title definitely seems surprising, being that it’s coming from the proclaimed tactical wizards of the Football Manager community. Although we can’t stress enough how important your tactics are in determining success in the game – the underlying factor is still true. No matter how good your team’s stats or how perfect your team’s tactics – if your players are not motivated to play the match at hand, you’re going to have a tough time coming home with three points.

We’re just around the corner from a brand new year in the FM community and November is a big month for us with the release of both Football Manager 2009 and FM Live. Are you getting ancy? Millie will preview the upcoming release of FM-Britain’s Tactical Theorems & Frameworks for FM09 which is already being heralded behind closed doors as the quintessential guide to tactic-building and one of the best pieces ever written for the game. Jordan will ramble a bit about his encounters trolling through the FM scene, his thoughts on what “fun” means on community forums and will try to make one last plea for the franchise system before this podcast season concludes.

Sports Interactive sported Che Guevara on their main website touting the release announcement of FM09 giving us a hint that the new edition of the series will undergo a “revolution” of sorts. After much speculation it has in a very big way and become a huge talking point around the scene. We will discuss all the announced features, our thoughts on the direction of the game and the commotion on the SI Games forums. November 14th won’t be coming soon enough!
